2nd Official Board Meeting

Well, last night we held the second official Board Meeting of The Cellar Bar & Grill. A Lot happened at this meeting, first and foremost the officers were elected -

Jarad - Team Leader
Kate - Assistant Team Leader
Christopher - Secretary/Treasurer
Tim - Public Relations
Allison - Organizer/Party Planner
Congratulations to all Members for their elected positions!

The Treasurer announced that the bar fund has a balance of $19.66 - We discussed ways to raise more money for several future purchases. The committee agreed that a $3 dollar cover on weekends would be a fair and adequate amount to charge people, especially considering the amount of liquor and beer that we purchase and share, also the amount of toilet paper we go thru!

We also approved the purchasing of new Bomb Shot Glasses, thanks to our new member Allison for showing us a website where we can buy the shot glasses in quantities of 50 for only $5.99. It was agreed that we would purchase 100 for around 12 dollars plus shipping. The next item on the agenda was the lighting behind the bar, again it was agreed that under cabinet lights would be purchased and the track lighting would be removed and donated to a member, the lights will be up and done by November 16th, funding provided by the team leader.

A task force was created by the team leader, electing Allison and Kate to be in charge of organizing the bottles and items on the shelves behind the bar. It was agreed that some empty bottles would be kept but 60% would be thrown away.

Exciting news that was announced at this meeting is a Non-Birthday Party for Jarad, the weekend of December 5th/6th - Details to be decided by party planner Allison, but a major detail will be the first official screening of the cellar video, titled "Boys Night" - It was agreed that more videos will be made and we will be contracting in camera owner Ryan B. to help with the videos. I will also be looking into an option of putting the videos on the blog after the viewing parties.

Another item discussed was regarding some of the safety issues at the cellar - A big one is the exhaust pipe that is getting beat up in the route behind the bar, it hangs low and many have hit their head or knocked the pipe out of place, the pipe is used to discard the carbon monoxcide from the heater, so yeah- not safe if it gets knocked off, but luckily it shouldn't be too difficult or expensive to fix, so that will be rerun in a safer way this weekend.

Safety item #2 - Now that the washer and dryer have been relocated the water pipe and valves are exposed, so Jarad is going to make a cage for the area to protect it from getting broken or messed with the cage should be completed around november 23rd.

The final safety item is the gas pipes that run through the open ceiling, the most cost efficient and easy fix for now is to fasten some new straps to hold up the pipe, this way if people do grab a hold of it it will be more secure.

There are several things that we are brainstorming on for the next meeting- The wall to block the back utility/tool room is still on the table, this is a rather large project so we are holding it up for debate till next meeting, we need to make sure we know exactly what we want before we start building on this project... Any suggestions will be considered and appreciated!

Another item on the table for the next meeting is new Bar chairs, Kate has been nominated to research the cost and type of chairs available and she will present her findings at the next meeting.

We are also considering expanding the space under the bar, currently there is just the fridge and the garbage area and there is a lot of room for more shelves or other items, we just need the right ideas and the time to cut out the holes and frame them in. More on this idea next meeting.

Another item that we are intending on completing this weekend is moving Kate's table to the bar, it is bar height, sturdier than the card table and would match the bar in the light wood color, Allison and Kate hope to have the table moved by Sunday.

The task force is scheduled to meet this weekend to work on their assigned projects.

Other items mentioned include serving more mixed drinks at the bar, This would simply require more cups, straws, ice, and mixers- ie. pop, juice, etc. This will be taken into serious consideration when we restock the bar. An exact date of when bar restocking will take place is unknown but most likely by the weekend of the 5/6th for the screening/non-birthday party.
If you would like to come to our next board meeting please contact any board member to make sure you are sent the time and date. We would love to include new ideas and perspectives so we encourage any and all to come to meetings!

Thanks for reading, hope everyone is excited for the future improvements!

Don't forget to mark your calendars for the PARTY the weekend of December 5th & 6th - It will be here before we know it !!!!

And for your viewing pleasure... More random shots- A couple of pictures showing how and why we built the Cellar, this is February of 2008, when all we had was a dirty basement, best friends kissing, and the washer and dryer -

Under Construction

Well, the website is always under contstruction, but this time I mean the bar itself! We've been doing some improvements in anticipation for a long, cold, and drunken winter!

First and foremost, the cellar bar offically has a phone number and a phone!! 402-620-2214 - Contact us anytime to find out our specials, how late we are open, and/or just to say Hello!
We've expanded a bit of space, moving the "utilities" aka washer and dryer - to create a more open feel in the bar. Also, we have installed a smoke fan to cut down on the haze that is created from our smoking customers. Both of these updates, though they sound minor, took a lot of hard work from our construction crew (aka Jarad) and we owe him a big ATTA' BOY!

Other News - We had our first 'Cellar Bar' Board Meeting last night, future updates were discussed, including a change to the shower curtain wall that was separating the utility tool room, the motion was passed to build a partial wall out of dark old wood, to match the ceiling, Board Member Christopher B. was nominated to help get the wood with the use of his truck, wood may or may not be collected from abandoned houses.

Another issue on the agenda was the lighting behind the bar, currently a set of track lights are there, but they heat up the place pretty quick, plus we would like more lighting to accent the bottles, both empty and full, so it was agreed that under cabinet lighting would be purchased and installed, the microwave will be moved and rewired to create a more centrally located space for all liquor bottles.

Other ideas mentioned include a white board for people to leave messages on and a cork board to put up pictures and other notes. Also, we are currently discussing the price and usage of a Jager Machine, any suggestions or comments on how to pay for the $250 dollar machine and if it's worth it, will be considered.

Other future updates include a table and chairs for card games, drinking games, etc. and a couch/futon, for more spacious and comfortable seating, Yes and also for your poor folks who need a place to crash because we won't let you drive, but remember... No Sex in the Champagne room!!! :)

Now for a little fun....

Here are some random pics from the random nights we find ourselves once again lounging at the cellar bar... (sorry about the quality, they are from my cell phone, I'm hoping to get a Cellar Bar Camera, one of these days!)

Here is Allison and Kate, adorable as always...
Here is Jarad as a speaker, Yes, he acted like a speaker because he was "plugged in" to speaker wire...
Yes, still plugged in, what's wrong with that?!
Here is Christopher with his pants hiked up to his man boobs! Hahaha... the things you forgot you did, that you never thought would show up on The Cellar Site...hehe
Yep, Hike 'um up Christopher...
